Dejan Lovren
Lovren was bought in the same season as Jan Vertonghen for half the price. Both players measure up at 6’2″, both are ball playing defenders who have made considerable contributions to the club. Although both are highly respected in my team only one could step into the pole position which of course is Lovren. With Lovren’s great passing technique and his ability to play with both feet it makes him the more attractive choice to me as a manager than Vertonghen. After making his way from Lyon for £4 million he has had a total of 147(14) appearances, scoring 24 goals and assisting 9 in his 4 years at Lille.
2014/2015
Rasmus Elm
Rasmus was bought into the club in my first January window at the club for the price of £5 million as a sort term resolve for team which was lacking centre midfielders, but it was not long till he stamped his place on the field. After spending a successful first half at AZ making a total of 28 appearance’s for the Dutch club scoring 8 goals and setting up 7, Rasmus caught my eye and I just had to buy him, but the Swedish international struggled to settle into his stride at my club only netting 2 goals and 4 assists in 22 appearances. Once settling in the Swedish midfielder really found his groove the next season making sure he made the most assist in the league with 18, overall in the season he had made 52(2) appearances, scoring only 4 goals but setting up an amazing 26 to secure his place in the squad. Despite his complete lack of Physical play he has managed to be a great player at this club using both his skill and his footballing brain to help him gain 17 goals, and 52 assists in only 139(10) appearance’s making him a true great in my eyes.
2014/2015
Eden Hazard
Hazard is a true talisman at Lille and a great Belgian legend. His complete dedication and loyalty to the club has seen him rise from a great prospect to one of the best players in Ligue 1 and probably the World. His great dribbling ability makes Hazard one of the hardest players to stop on the ball but more importantly his consistent performance’s passing the ball make him a team favorite. Hazard has shown great ability to both score goals and set them up in abundance scoring 44 and setting up 48 in only 161(4). Although his great output Hazard has spent no less than 6 months , 3 weeks and 9 days with the clubs physio’s which is due to him being a target of abuse in every game he plays.
